5K Update

So here's what I know...Chris and I were going gang busters at the gym working on building up our endurance for the family 5k April 16th....then he was out of town a whole bunch for work and motivation went out the window. I'm happy to say we are both back on track. Chris sneaks in some workouts at the hotel gyms and is looking like hot stuff....mmm i need just a moment....okay I'm back, I love that man!

I just hopped back on the gym train yesterday. Everything went well and it felt great to get back in there. I did a 3.1 mile in 42 minutes, that's about a 14 minute pace. I did a considerable amount of walking though as to not over do it. My goal is anything under a 10 minute mile the day of the race, under 30 minutes. I really cannot wait for the weather to get a little bit better so I can get outside and run. It is such a difference running inside with no wind, no elevation change and a nice springy and even tread to run on...not so much the same once you get outside, and I prefer running outside. So come on warm weather!

Eight weeks and counting until race day, plenty of time to be ready. I'm actually also running a 5k with some girls from work on April 1st. A client of ours is putting it on so we all decided to participate, it's a fun family involved one so every one's kids will be there and such. Chris decided to just be my cheerleader that day which is fine, this is my trial run anyway for April 16th.

From what I've heard, Tony had been sick for nearly two weeks and needed to take a break but should be back to the grind soon and Mom and Dad have been doing really well. Those lucky ducks are going on a Hawaiian Cruise the 2 weeks prior to the race...so they'll have the great weather to run outside on the deck....the question is...will they!?! ;) Ahhh...Hawaii....that would be the life!

Super Bowl XLV Champions!

So I've been meaning to write this for some time now. Green Bay Packers are SUPER BOWL Champions of Super Bowl XLV!! Green Bay - 31, Steelers - 25.

Coming off the third year of Farve drama Aaron Rodgers was a deserving MVP of the game. It has been a "will he, won't he" live up to replacing the great and almighty Brett Favre for three years now and before our eyes this season he silenced everyone and the GB-Pack not only made it to the super bowl but won!

I remember watching the last Green Bay super bowl win in 1997. I was home alone while all the rest of the family wen to parties. I laid in Mom and Dad's bed and ate taco dip....sounds pretty pathetic now but it was fun then! This year we went to our neighbors here in Appleton. They have this massive 80" TV in the basement...and in case you can't see the game on that one there is what I can only guess is a 52" on the side. Not to mention, there is always great grub at their house thanks to Tim's cooking and Jenny's baking skills...baklava...that's all I can say!

So all in all, AMAZING end to a great Green Bay season... let's do it all over again next year!

3rd Annual Girls Weekend

The boys fish and hunt and golf and (get the picture)do other boy things all the time; and us ladies we've got Girls Weekend! Chris and some of his friends take a trip to Canada every other year and it's not cheap... so it got me to thinking... why is there not a girl's trip like this?

After some thought a few reasons popped into my head....girl's are cheap....girl's are too emotional....girl's have commitment issues and girl's can change their minds at the drop of a hat. So, you try planning a week away...let alone a weekend away with girls.

I decided to start small...I only asked for a weekend and I got some takers! That was three years ago at the First Annual Girls Weekend...see below...

Em and I

My plan has always been to build up to a bigger trip every other year, just like the boys, and although we are not quite there I think we are well on our way.

So with all that explanation out of the way this year was the 3rd annual trip. We stayed at two condos in Door County, WI. Not much going on up there in the winter...but we make it happen...burnt pizza and hot apple pie anyone!?! We set a record this year, 12 girls attended, I repeat, 12!! I have to thank my good friend Steph for helping with the planning efforts, there is way more planning than thought that goes into 12 girls spending a weekend together. There was a great mix of friends from all walks of our lives and it was awesome to introduce everyone to all the girls I love the mostest and even meet someone new for the first time. It was a blast!

Wicked!

Yesterday was the kind of day anyone would need to put their big girl/boy pants on and suck it up....so I did!

I was defeated early in the morning Friday by a whopping cold. Now I can count on a couple fingers the number of times I've been sick in the last few years and this cold takes the cake! I felt it coming on Tuesday, by Wednesday I was sure I was going to have at least a minor "I can live with this" kind of cold. Thursday I went to work and felt horrible throughout the entire day and by Friday....I was down for the count. My body and I were up all night trying to break a fever with no luck. I miss the days when my mom would come in every four hours throughout the night to give me more medicine and change my shirt if it was soaking wet from cold sweats. Instead I've gotten away from medicating myself and with the wonderful invention of dri-fit shirts there is no need worry about the cold sweats anymore!

Any who, I stayed home from work to knock this cold out of me especially since I have been way too excited all week for Friday. Chris and I were going to see Wicked!! There was no way I was missing that. So I sucked it, took back some medicine, put my big girl pants on and went out for a fantastic night with Chris.

We tried a new restaurant in town called TJ Sushi Steakhouse. We love sushi and we are always searching for the best. We've had sushi at a total of 6 different places here in Appleton and still the best to us is a little dumpy place called Far East. But back to Tj's. This restaurant went into a building that has switched owners and restaurants three times in the last 2 years so we were taking quite the risk. As it turned out, we were very impressed, me with the decor and Chris with the Tuna Tartar. The sushi was wonderful and fresh, the Tuna tartar was the best we've had in Appleton but still has leagues to go to catch up to Asiana's in Pewaukee. We also ordered a Thai Style Eggplant dish, medium spicy. It was very good, but with all the sushi we ordered we brought most of it home.

So we left dinner and made our way downtown to the Performing Arts Center. We parked the car and were a bit early so we went out for a drink at the Dirty Leprechaun...also a new place for us. It was fun, not busy in the least, it was also 6:00p...not exactly bar time! It reminded me a lot of the type of bar we are familiar with from college. We finished up our drinks and walked across the street to the play.

Wicked was awesome, it was....well...WICKED AWESOME! This was my first time seeing the play and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For those that have heard of Wicked but aren't sure what it's about; it's the story of the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) and Glinda the Good. They were best friends growing up until one was called good and the other wicked. It's basically the story of the witches prior to Dorthy coming to Oz....and a slight hint of Dorthy near the end. It was such a great play, I can't wait to read the book!

Thank you very much to my love Christopher for treating me to such a wonderful night out....even if I did have to bring a bag full of tissues to get through it all!

Family Affair

So I kind of have the running itch. Now that I know I can run long distances, I'm hooked! I registered for my first run of the season this April. The Oshkosh Half Marathon and 5K will be the first.

I have not caught the itch though well enough to complete the training for the Half but I've got plenty of time to work on the 5K! You know who else has time to rock out a 5k!?!......

?

?

?

All of these hotties!

That's right, I've roped them all in to run a 5K this April with me...each and every one of them. Mom showed interest in running one last year while I was training and Dad got in on the idea when some of his co-workers asked him to run something with them. Tony wants to work on breaking 30 minutes and Chris took some convincing...but he's in :) Jacki is actually going to be our coach/cheerleader/photographer for the day. We expect a halftime dance or celebration dance when we finish! Got on that Jax!

Top Ten Posts of 2010

2010 was a year to enjoy! This is just a glance back and my favorite top ten memories of the year. Enjoy!

October is always the busiest time of the year for Chris and I...well mostly for Chris at work and all those work conferences, but there are also plenty of birthdays to celebrate. This past year's October was especially fun...

October in a Nutshell

We moved into our new home in November of 2009 so when spring came around we were experiencing everything for the first time. I love this post strictly for the size of the weeds that were growing in our yard! Not for the hottie mowing the lawn...that was just an added bonus!

We went a family trip to Florida this past June. Chris and I spent some time in Jacksonville visiting his grandma before making our way to the condo in Clearwater to meet up with my family. It was great to all travel together again, we had a blast. But we were also there on a mission....

How could our first anniversary not make the top ten! I heart my Christopher very much and can't imagine what life would be like without him. This anniversary was 100% us and we'd like to thank the landscaping for sucking up our cash allowing us to have this wonderful day!

Happy Anniversary!

New Years Eve 2010....Pointer Style!

What a great and relaxing New Years Eve this year! For the first time in a long while we did not leave town for NYE we just hiked it five minutes down the road to our friends The Steifs.

Every year we get together with our college friends for Homecoming and New Years Eve and this past year we all missed Homecoming for various reasons. Our excuse was my good friends wedding, there were both Pointers so hey should know better, but they gave one hell of a party so we'll forgive them with time :)! So with that said Rich and Autumn decided NYE needed to be done up in true Pointer fashion. We rocked everything out college style, pizza, fish bowls, horrible mixers(Jason, Chris thanks you for that one! Go Limelite!), bloody mary's, Partner's/Rusty Mugs, UWSP apparel and jello shots...oh jello shots....

Go Pointers!

We also had lots of little ones running around this year...strange as is, times are changing and it's great to still be able to get together with these great friends and ring in the new year. There is no better way!
