Day 29: Plain Old Tuesday

I'm grateful for a husband who is creative enough to save us from the hamburger helper meal I had planned for dinner by thinking of having a grilled chicken salad instead.

I'm also grateful for the time spent with our friends Autumn and Rich for a short while later that night.

Day 28: Juicy Lucy

November's 30 days of gratitude is almost done! I have to admit, I didn't take the time to reach very deep this year. There really is so much to be grateful for and sometimes it's hard to put into words. Instead I end up with posts like this one....

I'm grateful for the yummy Juicy Lucy cheeseburgers we grilled tonight!! I would how many of my gratitude posts this year were related to food? Is that something I can blame on pregnancy? Yeah, I didn't get too deep this year because I was blinded by delicious food, it's all the baby's fault! ;)

Day 27: Home Sweet Home

You know you've been living out of your suitcase for too long when you get home and it doesn't quite feel right.

We are grateful to be home today and really grateful that we took care of the laundry and other random home stuff before leaving for vacation so that we have nothing to do but sit on our butts and relax!

17 + Weeks and Thanksgiving!

Just like the holiday season... my belly has arrived! No denying it now, baby is on the way! This is the last post with the November fabric, bring on December and Christmas!

My hunger has certainly picked up and I'm trying my best to make the right decisions like veggies and dill dip over mounds of not so good for me deliciousness... I may slipped a little bit. Don't judge! Who knew cheese slices dipped in dill dip would taste so good!

17 Weeks + 1 Day

So Thanksgiving, we could not be anymore lucky to have the opportunity to spend the holidays with both of our families. We started our trip in Waukesha with my family. Wednesday night I had the chance to see 10 high school friends who some of which I haven't seen in years. It was so great to catch up with them and to share our baby news with them all. Thursday started in the usual big brunch kind of way. Yummy French Toast brunch dish greatness, fruit and sausage. My mom then took some pictures of Chris and I for our Christmas card, made some grub and the whole family came over to enjoy each others company. Oh yeah, and GO PACK! 11 wins, 0 loses! Keep it rolling!

Ella and Uncle Chris time during dessert

Papa and Ella's sleepy time after dinner

New Mom and Dad's sleepy time after dinner. If they wanted a break from Ella they sure got it on Thursday.  Between Nana and Auntie Tina, Miss Ella was well taken care of. She also got some quality time with Auntie Ashlee during the Packer Game, she kept me warm while we napped :)

Friday we traveled and lucked out with light traffic. Spent the day getting rested up for Thanksgiving number two.

We also went out for fish Friday night and it's my first time out for fish where I'm unable to have the usual Brandy Old Fashion. So this is how a preggo does a Friday Fish Fry....Water and Olives...Yup! So sad but all worth it.

And lastly,  Saturday we spent the day with Chris' family in Port Edwards, Mom and Dad, Grandma, Uncle Pat, Jenny, Tim, Sarah and "the boys", Kellan and Keegan. Great times! We also try to get a family picture each year and with the addition of another pup and another baby things are getting tough! It only took about 30 shots but all we needed was one!

Day 26: Thanksgiving II

I'm grateful to be lucky enough to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner will both families.

Two big honking meals and two big honking families that keep on growing!

Day 25: Travel Day

Low traffic....We love low traffic! The roads were hardly busy which made for a great travel day from Waukesha to Port Edwards.

I'm also thankful for speaking up at dinner and asking if they still had sweet potato fries and wasabi sauce at the restaurant we were at. Sure did, and made them special for me! So good!

Day 24: Thanksgiving

What could I be more grateful for today than time with family and great food on our table.

Day 23: The Good Old Days

I'm very grateful to have the opportunity today to reconnect with a big chunk of my high school friends.

Sometimes I feel like social media sites like Facebook fool us into thinking we've seen someone sooner than we have. Don't get me wrong though, it's nice to be able to keep up with the information others are willing to put out there. In most cases it's just a glimpse of a story the real fun comes in sharing stories of those adventures face to face. Like I mentioned, Facebook has fooled me into thinking I have seen these friends sooner than I have. The reality of it all, it's been the 8 years we've been out of high school since I've seen them and that was way too long!

It was so great to see all those girls and for it to be so comfortable and easy to catch up. It was a great night, the kind that you lose track of time and if it wasn't well past Baby C's bed time I could have stayed up all night listening to all the fun and adventures they have all been on in their lives. A big thank you to Sarah for hosting us and putting this all together. I look forward to hopefully more years of getting together....and hopefully not 8 years from now, but much sooner!

Day 22: Dinner Date

Chris and I have not had the opportunity to make a big meal and entertain guests...together... in a long while and it was long over due.

I am grateful for the good company of my co-worker and her husband AND the company of my husband who finally came home to his girls! (Ashlee and Lola...We do not know the sex of our baby yet!)

Day 21: Coming Home

I'm thankful Chris is coming home tomorrow.

A full week away is a little too much for my comfort.

Day 20: GO PACK GO!

I'm grateful for a Packer win today! 10-0 baby!

Sunday, November 20, 2011

Day 19: Girls Day

I had lots of energy from the great night of sleep the night before. Which means I got out of bed in time to take a shower and attempt to look cute today. As bad as I want this belly to pop out already I'm still in that in between where I just feel like a bloated house rather than a glowing mom-to-be.  So it felt good to get dressed up and take my time doing my hair and makeup.

Either way, my great friend Steph came to town to shop and shop we did. We are dangerous together as proven by the slew of time we spent in the Christmas department at Hobby Lobby. I found a few more cute maternity tops for some good deals at Macy's (I really need to stop!) and feel in love with a cute pair of boots at Francesca's Collections that I immediately added to my Christmas list..wink, wink!

Steph and I tried a new restaurant in town, Kensington Grille, for dinner before heading to the theater to see the newest installment of the Twilight series... and yes... I will probably make Chris go again with me when he gets home!

Thanks for coming to play Steph and breaking up Chris' long road trip for me! Love you!

Day 18: Quiet Home = Early Bedtime

I'm grateful for a quiet house tonight. Another stressful day at work and it was great to come home, eat some dinner and go lay down in bed and call it a day!

16 Weeks +

I think I've finally popped... I think anyway... you decided!  I've been taking these pictures first thing when I wake up in the morning and since I'm really just rocking a "food baby" still the belly doesn't show as much until I've eaten some breakfast. So today I had breakfast first and then took the picture.

My food baby...

On another note, still been doing great. I've had a couple headaches that are what I would think a migraine feels like. I can't focus, cant think straight and more often than not it hurts to even have my eyes open. Other than that every thing has been gravy. Mmmmm speaking of gravy... I can't wait for Thanksgiving! Happy early Thanksgiving to all!

Day 17: A Clean Puppy!

Yup, I love that 'New Dog Smell' ! LoBear was pretty scuzy (Spelling? A Word Even?) and in need of her Holiday Hairdo! Now she smells pretty and that makes me happy!

The picture we took for Daddy and Nana after we got home from the groomers...

...and yes, I sent a picture to Chris and my Mom because until this real baby comes, and makes Lola the FurBaby, she is our baby!

Day 16: The Hubbs

Thankful for a rockstar husband that brought me my book to read at lunch because I forgot it at home this morning and I didn't even ask him to. He's pretty great!

Day 15: Baby C

Baby C's heart beat... It completely made our day!

Doctors Appointment & Baby Gender Myths

Our 16 week appointment went well today and quick! At my second appointment I got to see Baby C on a small hand held monitor so I asked Chris if he wanted to come today to see the baby. As it turns out we did not get to use the little hand held monitor today. Chris did get to hear the heartbeat again which is a strong 150 bpm. The doctor says my weight and bump size is right on course which was nice to hear since I was freaking out a little bit in my mind that I wasn't big enough yet. All is well!
We also scheduled the big detailed ultrasound that they take a closer look at EVERYTHING including the sex of the baby! That's scheduled for the morning of December 13th!

So now as we begin the last four weeks of 'The Baby Gender Unknown' I'd like to let you pick your poison for whatever helps you decide what you think the gender will be. Below are some of the more common old wives tales that pertain to my pregnancy. 28 days left to vote on the poll, you decide, Sweet Boy or Daddy's Girl?!?

# 1 Updated Heart Rate:

The theory states that if your baby's heart rate was 140 beats per minute and above, you would be having a girl. If the heart rate was under 140 beats per minute, then you would be having a boy.

1st Appt - 167 bpm
2nd Appt - 155 bpm
3rd Appt - 150 bpm

# 2 Boy Dreams:

I've heard this myth go both ways. Some claim if you dream of a certain sex that is a premonition of what you having. On the other hand, there is a mass of people out there that swear you have the opposite of what you dream.
My dreams have always been about boys, plural, there has always been two! The doctor swears there is only one in there! But the boys in my dreams have never been babies and they have never been MY baby. The first was of an older version of my nephews Kellan and Keegan (Sarah, if you're wondering what they will look when they are older I've got that under control, their heart breakers). The next dream was of the two brothers I use to babysit when I was younger, Nicklaus and Nolan, and although they are indeed older now, my dream was when they were younger like the age I babysat them. The last dream was of the two brothers down the street from us, although it was only the one boys face because in my dream they were identical twins. I looked up the meaning of dreams about twins and they say it's not a premonition that you will have twins, it more so is that you are indirectly meeting your other half, the other part of you. So long story short you're meeting your baby. So does that mean I'm having a boy? or since I was also a boy in the dream does it mean Baby C will be the same sex as me and be a girl?

# 3 Old Wives Tale:
  • If you are craving salty or sour foods, meats and cheese, potato fries, pretzels and popcorn then it's a BOY!
  • If you are craving ice cream, chocolate, and candy then it's a GIRL!
This one is tricky, I have not had, "OMG I HAVE TO HAVE THIS!" cravings. Instead I've been wanting many different foods. A few things have been consistent... I am in love with spicy food (Indian, Curry's, Hot Sauce, Hot Sauce, Hot Sauce), and I can't have just one Honeycrisp Apple. I must have at least two...maybe three, and lastly, if there is a cheese curd on the menu...it's mine! No questions asked. Every now and then I want ice cream but depending on what the dessert choice is I can usually pass it up because it doesn't sound appetizing. I've been leaning more towards savory food, but love a good salty sweet treat as well like Hawaiian Sweet Onion Maui Kettle Chips. Do you see me dilemma? I love the salty/savory foods AND I love the sweets.

Day 14: Mmm food!

Nothing like a lunch date with the one you love, dinner made for you by the very same man and then filling the house with the warm smells of curry and coriander for tomorrows Chicken Tikka Masala dinner. Yup, can't beat that kind of day!

15 Weeks +

Another week come and gone and that baby still doesn't want to pop out! I know there will come a day when I will feel my skin couldn't possibly stretch any further but for now I need that sweet little baby to pop out and say hello already!

On another note, Tuesday is our next doctors appointment and we'll hopefully get to see our little nugget again! After Tuesday's appointment we will be scheduling the big ultrasound where they take a look at everything in more detail, including the sex of Baby C! Have a mentioned yet that Chris and I have decided to find out the sex? One less thing to worry about in our crazy lives right now.

I'll keep you all posted about the appointment on Tuesday but until then here is my 15 week belly. Almost sticking out past the... umm... upper region... Maybe when that happens is when I'll feel as if I'm popped instead of looking like I just ate a little too much ice cream!

Day 13: Ella Love

This made both mine and Chris' day getting to stop out by Tony and Jacki to see our lovely little niece Ella. She is so darn tiny and darn cute! You've got to love every little thing about her.

Day 12: Evening Out

Grateful for my dad watching our little LoBear (or not watching her as she ate another pair of my underwear) while we had an evening out to attend a co-workers wedding. Also big love to Chris for smiling all day long even though he knew very few people :)

Day 11: It's Friday!!

It's Friday! It's Friday! It's Friday, let's party! It's Friday! It's Friday! It's Friday, let's party!

It's FRIDAAYYY, Let's PPAAAAARTY! It's FRIDAAYYY, Let's PPAAAAARTY!

FRIIIIIIIIII- DAY! T.G.I.F!! FRIIIIIIII-DAY! T.G.I.F!!

That is all...

Day 10: Apples or Rest?

Not sure what I'm more grateful for today... the 1/2 peck of honey crisp apples in my fridge of which I've eaten 3 of today or the day of vacation I took from work for a little mental recharge.

I'm going to go with mental recharge. I'm very productive when I have the time to be!

Day 9: First Snow Fall

Last year there were five or six major snow storms in our area, all of which accumulated 14" of snow or more. Of those five or six storms Chris was home for one of them... I repeat... ONE! Not only that, but the one storm he was home for we were snowed into the house with our good friends Em and Will over. So instead of having to handle the snow by himself... there was four of us. You might have been able to gather by now that for the remaining four to five storms I was not so lucky to be snowed in with three other people!

Not that I'm bitter or anything, but this winter (which has been rumored to be a nasty one) is fast approaching, I'm working on growing a mini human, and the first snow fall of the year was yesterday and the Hubbs..... GONE!

I'm very grateful it is still warm enough that there was no need to shovel and it will all be melted away soon. I'll excuse this storm from the "I Dislike Chris Very Much When He Travels" tally I count every winter.

Day 8: Feeling Great

I'm extremely grateful that Baby C is being very kind to me and that through this pregnancy so far (knock on wood) I have felt like gold... very tired gold... but gold none the less. I know this is definitely not something to take for granted as I've had many friends that have not been as lucky.

Day 7: Lunch Date

Every now and then you need a good lunch date and I had a wonderful one today! I'm thankful to be able to vent to someone who just plain gets it!

14 weeks +

So I thought with not much to write about this week I'd explain the backgrounds in my weekly picture updates.

I wanted to do something fun to show the transition my body was going through and thought what better way than to take the same picture in the same clothes throughout the whole thing. I bought fabric representing each of the months to use as the back drop. Not wanting to be wasteful I thought it would cute to use the different patterns in a quilt/baby blanket that would be unique and individual to Baby C's time in the womb!

Here is my pic at 14 weeks with the new fabric for November... still waiting for the obvious POP... but there's a little pooch there already :)

Day 6: Girl Talk

I'm grateful today to be able to find the time to talk for two hours with some of the best girls in the world! There is nothing like a good chat with good friends to warm the heart and heal the soul. Thanks Steph and Gini for the girl talk today!

Day 5: Christmas Lights

My hubby is a rockstar! He hates going up on the roof, but with a baby in the belly he won't let me up there this year. He sucked it up and did it for me! We're on the road a lot in the next few weeks and wanted to take advantage of the great weather this weekend to get our Christmas lights up.

So how did it go....

Do you remember last night?....Read this --> Oh...Christmas Lights...How I hate thee

I'm grateful we learned from the many mistakes of last year and knocked it out this year in less than hour! There still might have been a handful of curse words. Nobody is perfect!

Day 4: New Adventures

Grateful and scared of new adventures to come!

Day 3: Struggle

Today was a major struggle at work and I hate when it's that much harder to see past all that stuff to get to the positive.

My high for the day, falling asleep the minute my head hit the pillow, that never happens.

Day 2: Mmmmm

Chris packed my breakfast, lunch and snacks for the day and had them out in my car waiting for me today. All before he hit the road at 6:30a...that's something to be grateful for! ...and he packed me a Mini Snickers Bar :) Are you jealous yet?

Day 1: Monday's

Starting this off with some humor...
I'm beyond grateful these 30 days started on Tuesday and not on a Monday...I'm still trying to find something to be grateful for about Mondays!

30 Days of Gratitude: 2011

Here's to being grateful in 2011! Last year I took the time to sit down each day of November, even if only for 5 minutes, to focus on what I'm grateful for. Many of my posts were simple things as a great dinner out with a good friend and good conversation or I woke up today not feeling tired and sometimes I ventured a little deeper than that.

I'm famously a pessimist or realist as I like to think, very different than my "Make it a Great Day!" brother who would be famously optimistic. I try this out every November to remind myself of the greater good in each and every day. Chris might make an appearance every now and then too as I usually ask him to write something, so keep an eye out!

30 days... 30 posts... and then some with baby updates!
