Shut Up and Dance With Me!

I'll be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing here as a dance mom. Though I've always loved dance & music, I don't know the first thing about REAL dance.  Sloane loves to move and groove and could benefit from a little coordination!! ;) So here we go! Thankfully I have a lot of wonderful other mothers, some season pros and some newbies, to help me along!

 Sloane is in love with dance class! She would go every night if we let her. Every day that's not dance day is just another to day to ask "When is dance class again!?" It's been so wonderful seeing Sloane set into that dance studio on her own and make new friends. It's also been fun seeing her pay attention and listen to the instructor, I try to listen a bit too and pick up what they learned that day because Sloane's second favorite part next to the actual class is telling me all about what she did in dance class.

 I can't even tell you how excited I am to see who she is up on that stage at recital. Is she going to be the one that totally freezes? Is she going to be the hambone? Is she going to scream "Hi Mom and Dad" and wave in the middle of it all? haha. I can't wait to find out!

We're sad to see summer come to an end, but are also excited for fun fall days and new adventures in the winter!

5 Months: Grubbing on the Goods

This little bean of ours, gah!

Blair has been such a great babe, besides the apparent neediness for us to hold her and pay attention to her (diva) ALL THE TIME. She is actually still very content and chill. She is exactly what this family needed. Running after her sister is hard enough right now!

This past month Blair has been spending a lot more time on her tummy and actually enjoying it. She's still a spit up and drool machine but the drool we can only assume means teeth aren't far off. This past month we had a good two week stretch or full on drool, rosy cheeks from ear to ear and minor wake ups during the night. We thought for sure she was popping her first tooth, but low and behold, nothing.

We also started solid food this month! Rice cereal for about two weeks to get the hang on things, then butternut squash and now sweet potato, which she loves!

She is also a few short moves from figuring out how to get around in this world! When she does get it figured out she can keep all the boys running after her... like her mini lover Brady! It'll be an arranged marriage, no big deal!

4 months + We Have Lift Off!

We have lift off!! On Grandma Casey's birthday, August 18th, Blair first rolled over! Now she's a machine. Only problem... she still doesn't like being on her tummy. On the plus side, she loves looking in a mirror, so we've been doing tummy time in front of a mirror quite a bit lately. We just brought up an old cheap mirror from the basement and have it laying against the wall. Sloane gets a kick out of it too and will sing and dance in front of it, which only helps with Blair being entertained.

Mirror + 3yr old + Apparent Vain 4m old = 5 minutes of Mommy Time.

I'll take it.

I can't seem to remember if I mentioned we have a minor concern over Blair developing a flat spot. Well at her 4 month appointment her doctor felt it was worth sitting down with a physical therapist. We were thrilled to find out that the therapist thinks it's minor enough that it will correct itself since she's begun to roll over. Happy Day!

Blairs Baptism

A few weekends ago, July 19th, Blair was baptized in a nice service surround by family.

Assumption 2015

It's that time of the year again! Assumption 2015! After a couple years without each other the Casey ladies are back... pretty nails and all!!

Naturally, we took whatever place the Walmart card was in. This year, that meant 2nd place. Make it rain, Walmart, make it rain! 

Round Two: 3 Months + School

Blair is growing like a weed!. Literally, like a weed! She just turned three months and is already working her way out of three month clothes!! WHAT!?!

Dear Blair,
We have a stupid amount of clothing and you being born in same season as your big sister was suppose to save us lots of money! Knock it off!

Besides the crazy growth spurt she's on right now Blair has started giggling and become quite the chatter box for us. I know we've said it before but she is such a content babe. We are very interested to see how long that last and how that all shakes out as the girls grow up. Currently the girls are two peas in a pod. Sloane adores Blair and any time Blair starts crying she is right there to make her smile and happy. We recently built up the exersaucer for Blair and we aren't sure which girl is having more fun with it! To give you an idea of how long Blair is growing, we had to move the exersaucer up to the next size right from the start!

Lastly, Blair and Sloane both started back in daycare as I started working again. Blair is all smiles and  very content about the whole process, which has been nice since Sloane has had a very tough transition. Drop off has not been very smooth, Sloane will kick, scream and throw herself to the ground. It's a pretty large dagger in our parent hearts to see her so unhappy. The school is wonderful and we know she is having fun during the day, she is just adamant that she misses her family and would have more fun at home... with her family. We've tried explaining that we aren't home while she's at school but she isn't buying it yet. It is slowly getting better though. She doesn't kick and scream anymore, she just cries and I (mom) haven't cried either in a  couple weeks. Yes, I left the daycare in tears because I have such Mommy guilt. Chris and I had been tag teaming the drop off now and "ripping the band-aid off" by making our goodbyes quick and walking out. We feel it's been helping. Fingers crossed!
